DefProc Engineering is one of five carefully selected companies participating in Digital Catapult’s Hydrogen Sensor Accelerator Programme. The first of its kind, the eight-week programme aims to accelerate the development of sensor products to drive sustainable growth for the UK’s hydrogen energy sector, supported by Innovate UK and the Industrial Advisory Board. DefProc will have access to tailored support, cutting-edge testing facilities and a showcase platform. The programme is part of the Hydrogen Innovation Initiative, with wider partners including the Catapult Network, the Aerospace Technology Institute, the Net Zero Technology Centre, and the National Physical Laboratory.
The rapid development of the hydrogen industry in the UK is transforming the energy sector. Last December, the government announced £2 billion in funding for green hydrogen projects over the next 15 years. This will pave the way for the UK to become a hydrogen world leader and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
DefProc has assisted clients, including Northern Gas Networks, Wales & West Utilities and the EIC, to create innovative hydrogen solutions. Our projects include the first low-cost domestic hydrogen, H2Go, and the Smart Gas Pressure Sensor. These devices will be instrumental in deploying hydrogen safely and responsibly in people’s homes. The Hydrogen Sensor Accelerator will ensure we receive support as we navigate the competitive investment landscape to secure funding and establish a strong market presence.
After presenting a keynote at The Things Conference last year about how the Smart Gas project uses LoRaWAN for connectivity, DefProc’s co-founder Patrick Fenner spoke to Kudzai Manditereza about its impact.
